How is this different from Google Photos?
Google Photos is a great daily library — search, albums, sharing, editing. Photu is photos-and-videos backup: a copy outside that one account, verified file by file.
Can you sync my whole Google Photos library automatically?
No — and we won’t pretend we can. Google removed library-wide read access in March 2025. Full backup uses Google Takeout; Quick import uses the official Photos picker for the photos you select.
Is this only for photos and videos?
Yes. Photu is a cheaper alternative to Google Photos. It does not include Gmail or Drive — purely photos and videos. 16GB free, then just Rs. 1 for each GB.
What happens if a file fails?
It is retried with backoff, then moved to a quarantined state you can see. Nothing is dropped without telling you. Only verified files count as backed up.
